Central Auditory Procesing problems refer to difficulties with sound perceptions. This
problem involves the central nervous system. A perseon with normal hearing acuity can
still have a central auditory processing disorder.

CAP difficulties are often associated with learning difficulties such as dyslexia, reading
and or spelling difficulties, speech or language impairment, and possibly behavioral
problems such as poor attention span and inability to concentrate in a noisy
environment.

Our hearing evaluation must be conducted prior to CAP battery. Our audiologist obtains
a detailed case history inquiring about the difficulties the individual has been
encountering.

CAP evaluations include a battery of specialized tests which reveal information on
decoding abilites, auditory memory, integration of auditory informatoion, and proficiency
of listening in noise.

Test data is complied and analyzed. Results are then interpreted in a comprehensive
report which addresses areas of strengths and weaknesses and suggests procedures
and material for remediation.

The COMMUNCATION CENTER also offers therapy programs for Central Auditory
Processing disorders. Our therapy programs are provided by Speech Lanaguage
Pathologists with a Masters Degree and training in Central Auditory Processing problems.
